(a) Departmental activities and achievements
For all-round development of students, Zoology department is engaged in different programs and activities where teacher and students take part actively as group discussions, quiz, seminars etc. Students’ achievement is also satisfactory.
- STRENGTH
(a) Status of Seminar Library:
Around 450 numbers of books relating to the subject are available in the seminar Library. In addition to, there are many journals and periodicals which include Science Reporter Agrobios etc.
(b) Types of equipment of the Department:
Research binocular microscope with a pointer, Microtome, Incubator, Oven, PH meter, Digital balance, Calorimeter, Spectrophotometer, Audio-visual projector with screen, Yassica camera etc.
(c) Cultural Activities:
The department organizes the following cultural activities:
- Welcome Ceremony for teachers and fresher
- Teacher’s Day
- Ganesh Puja
- Saraswati Puja
- Study tours to different places of zoological interest
- Departmental Annual Seminar
- Farewell to outgoing students and teachers
(d)Academic Activities:
- Students are guided to prepare papers on syllabus related subject matters and present them in seminars. Such seminars are organized to enhance their writing and speaking ability of students.
- Each student is assigned a project work under the guidance of a teacher to promote
survey and research capability of the pupil.
- Eminent teachers from different universities are invited to address students in seminars.
- We are organizing the inter-disciplinary seminar as “Origin of Life and Immortality” with the Philosophy department.
- WEAKNESS
It becomes difficult to run the department with 450 books. Because the number of students increases day by day.

The Department has got informal links with the Universities within the state for capacity building, skill and updating knowledge.
- Teaching innovations :
- Plan – Teachers make lesson plans before the beginning of the academic session and the course is completed in time.
- Methods - Teachers follow innovative teaching methods like group discussions, seminars to enhance the expressive and speaking ability of students. Study tours, Field studies, Wall magazine Project Work are organized to promote the student’s survey, research, and organizational ability.
- Teachers adopt power point presentations to make the class interesting.
- Teaching Aids – The department has an Over Head Projector.
